High Visibility Workwear Resources

High-visibility clothing, or high-visibility safety apparel (HVSA), plays a critical part in helping keep you safe in the workplace. Whether it’s required or by your choice, wearing ANSI/ISEA compliant workwear helps ensure that you’re seen at all times, day or night. What many people don’t think about is that as the workwear is worn, soiled, washed, and exposed to the elements, it can lose some of its fluorescent color, and therefore its high-visibility nature. This can put you or those around you at risk for accidents so knowing when to replace an unfit garment is essential.

You might not have heard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), but you’ve likely benefitted from their work. ANSI helps oversee the creation of standards for a wide range of products, systems, services, and manufacturing processes across the U.S. One of those product categories is High Visibility Safety Apparel (HVSA).

HVSA, short for high-visibility safety apparel, is a type of clothing made with brightly colored and highly reflective materials. This clothing, also known as hi viz or hi vis, can include a wide range of apparel from shirts and vests to pants, overalls, and gaiters.
